Since being introduced to the Dutch dance scene in 1998 by MC Marxman, Stretch has become a regular and well known voice on the microphone for some of the biggest organisations all over the world. He began his entertainment career back in London in 1988, doing his own parties with a couple of friends. This soon led to Weekend Pirate Radio. "Everybody in North London would listen to my shows on Saturday and Sunday morning because I played everything. It was funny because we only had message pagers back then, so from 7a.m. till 10a.m. it was total madness, god help me if I was mashed from the night before". This began his professional career in Dance music. At the end of 1992, he moved swiftly in the industry creating his own parties in North London and after a 3-month stay in New York, he went back to London and started working with A.W.O.L. and World Dance.
They were responsible for bringing "Jungle" to the masses in the U.K. through the massive raves at “Lydd Airport” and in North London at the "Paradise club". A.W.O.L. (a way of life) was the first London club to play Drum and Bass in a main room and U.S. Garage in the second room. He loved the new breakbeat sound but decided this was the time to play soulful house and U.S. Garage as a DJ, and he spun the vinyl alongside residents Tommy Cockles, Ritchie Fingers, Laurence Bagnall and international guests like Frankie "Shag" Bones and Farley Jackmaster Funk. In 1993-94 he was very much part of the beginning of the U.K. Garage scene. Internationally tagged "Speed Garage", Stretch was the first MC alongside MC Creed at the now infamous "The Spread Love Project" which co-in sided with the creation of "Public Demand Records." They went on to produce artists such as Craig David, Artful Dodger and Robbie Craig.
Always the DJ, promoter, Stretch could be continually heard on the pirate airwaves doing his regular shows for Subjam, Function and eventually the internet radio station Gia live, where he felt most at home. In 1997 he secured his first residency at "Propaganda" and also found time to record and produce "The Gentleman’s Irish E.P.”
Stretch has just over 20 years of experience; working with some of the biggest and the best in the business: Ministry of Sound, World Dance, A.W.O.L., Public Demand, Creamfields, Twice as Nice, Kiss F.M, Penge, Dance Valley, Mojo concerts, U.D.C, Free your Mind Festival, Rock It Open Air, ID&T, Extrema, The Matrixx, Tiësto in Concert, Exquisit Promotions, Amnesia, Es Paradis, Cafe Mambo, Ancient People (Ibiza) Fresh Events in Malta and Webster’s Hall, New York.
Since his permanent move to the Netherlands in 2002, after 2 seasons in Ibiza, Stretch decided to put his DJ work on the back burner. Since that time he has appeared as a host and MC at all major festivals in The Netherland. Apart from being the voice for Tiësto on both record breaking DVDs of “Tiësto in Concert”, Stretch appeared for Armin van Buuren on his Armin Only world Tour and featured for Ferry Corsten on his Masquerade party in the Ahoy, Rotterdam; the undeniable truth that his style is appreciated by the worlds best DJs.
Studio work has now taken a big part of his time and he has since written “Pump up the Stereo” with Sidney Samson released through Sneakerz music and featuring on several compilation albums. Other world famous acts like Quasar, Fedde le Grand, Born to Funk, Jeroenski, Rishi Bass and Erick de Man have all used his voice for studio productions. Ronald Molendijk employed his talent by giving him the opportunity to co write the new album for Soulvation.
In the past two years MC Stretch performed successfully all over the world and appeared in The Netherlands (Energy The Network, Emporium, Tomorrowland, Freshtival, Rock It Open Air, Veronica Magazine’s Fiësta Summerfestival, Welcome To The Future, Dancetour, Mysteryland, etc etc); Belgium (Daydream Festival, Tomorrowland); Brazil (Sensation Sao Paulo); Russia (Ferry Corsten’s Grand Finale, Moscow) and Australia (Stereosonic 2011).
The year 2012 continued the success with new performances and re-bookings at ruling events and festivals like Energy The Network, Tranceclassixx, Creamfields Australia, Symphonica Electronica, Emporium, Freshtival, Stereo Sunday, Veronica’s Fiesta Summersounds, Tomorrowland Belgium, Dance Valley, Stereosonic Australia and many others.
