Territory: The world except the americas

Josh Gabriel is the production mastermind behind award-winning electronic music acts Gabriel & Dresden, Motorcycle, and Andain. His remixes for artists ranging from Tiësto to The Killers have moved thousands of hearts and feet, while tracks like “As The Rush Comes” and “Tracking Treasure Down” have earned Gabriel a permanent place in the world of dance music.

Since the disbanding of Gabriel & Dresden, Josh Gabriel has not slowed down one bit. If anything, he’s picked up the pace. In those two years, he’s released a critically acclaimed solo album (“Eight”), founded another electronica act (Winter Kills), and delivered floor-filling remixes for the likes of BT, Dash Berlin, and Matt Darey. The worldwide success of Winter Kills’ first single “Deep Down” is further emphasized by the support of top tier DJs like Armin Van Buuren, Tiësto, and Above & Beyond.

Over a year in the making, Winter Kills’ debut album has been a true labor of love for Gabriel. Featuring the stunning vocals of eredith Call, the twelve tracks that comprise their record run the gamut from 80s inflected rock to ethereal trance, with stopovers in ambient pop and techno-inflected house. The second single, “My Friend”, is already shimmering in the minds of fans and DJs, with its clever video and early radio support from none other than Armin Van Buuren himself. Needless to say, its forthcoming release is the talk of the EDM community.

Not content to simply produce and perform, Josh Gabriel’s new label, Different Pieces, is swiftly becoming one of dance music’s most talked about imprints. Guided by Gabriel’s time-tested ability to discover intelligent emotional music, Different Pieces’ output since 2008 has included Gabriel’s collaborations with Dave Seaman, as well as tracks from tech visionary Francis Preve, producer/vocalist Khaz, and dubstep upstarts The Secret Panda Society. With a pipeline filled with future classics, Different Pieces is poised to bring Josh Gabriel’s vision of the EDM universe to a whole new audience in the coming millennium.

Any one of these lofty goals would be enough to consume every waking hour of even the most prolific artist, but Josh Gabriel shows no sign of stopping. Later this year, Gabriel’s much-loved side project, Andain - with California singer/collaborator, Mavie Marcos - will return after a six-year hiatus. Having won over the music world with their 2003 hit, “Beautiful Things”, Andain is bringing their sound to an entirely new wave of clubgoers with their much anticipated single, “Promises”. In 2011, a full-length album will follow with more singles to come.

Expanding on a career that touches upon every aspect of the electronic dance music world - from his innovations as the founder of seminal music technology company, Mixman, to his current role as a visionary producer and DJ - the Josh Gabriel saga has only just begun.
